Product Description
Preparing to Fly Load up the 4 AA batteries in the controller, plug the avenger right in, and charge it up. You're ready to go, just like that! Testing I'm not going to beat around the bush on this one. The V-Wing Avenger flies AMAZINGLY well! It is completely and utterly stunning. It flies very stable and very slow, and is extremely easy to control, while being very responsive. The wings flap very fast, so it's more like a large, slow moth than a bird. It's not like a weak, frail moth, though, but a strong & confident one. If you get too low and want to gain altitude quickly, max out the throttle and it climes very rapidly with an explosive burst of speed and lift. It's impressive to watch, and even more so to control

5 out of 5 stars Works Great, Lot's of Fun   July 2, 2010

I bought this thing on the basis of it's good review, and let me say, I was not disappointed. This thing rocks! First of all, I can't believe it flies. It flies so well, I wonder why no one has made a bigger one to transport people! Anyway, this thing can really climb. Using a very low throttle setting, the V-Wing Avenger will gain altitude. It also turns very well, in fact this is about the only flying toy I have that I can actually fly in my living room.

Whenever I fly it in front of people, people are impressed. They ask me about it, and want to buy it for their kids. Because it's unusual, not a plane or a helicopter, when I fly it it always gets attention and draws a crowd.

Cool thing is if you are getting too high, you can cut power, and watch the V-Wing dive down like a Stuka dive bomber. It you power up again, it recovers smoothly and continues flying.

Bad thing - you will fly into walls, and the V-Wing will get stuck against the wall, continually flying into it.

Unlike a lot of other RC toys, this turns pretty well in either direction. Flight time isn't bad, haven't really timed it, but I'm guessing about 7 minutes.

It's very lightweight, and crashes have not really hurt it at all so far. If you sit on it, though, it will be history.

Whoever designed this is an aeronautical genius. Easy to fly. Good performance. Dramatic flight.

5 out of 5 stars I can see why they call the company Air "hogs"!   June 30, 2010

Every one who gets a turn with this winged wonder ends up 'hogging' all the indoor airspace in our living room!

"Addictive" is too weak an adjective to describe this toy. Now I know how John Travolta feels flying for Qantas airlines. Ok, NOT. But hey, it's nice for us grounded newbs to be able to fly 'something', and this toy is a breeze to master!

Found out it does not like the outdoors at all! Strictly indoors but that's fine by me. Something to do with the walls reflecting the IR pulses which, of course are absent outside.

You'll have this little dragonfly wannabe flying right back to your hand nearly at will after only minutes of play, which is, in a word...

InterruptingCheeserific!

Got mine on clearance at Gordman's for $6.50, but knowing what I know NOW, I'd have paid 3 times that!

This is one tough little flyer too, as our family dog, Sparky, couldn't overcome his instinct to pounce on this thing and by the time we got it away from him, we were sure it was a goner, but it is one bionic little booger! Still flying great after hours of flight time!

I would have given this item 7 stars, but it doesn't have an onboard night vision telephoto camera and GPS 'go to' telemetry capability.

Well, that and I couldn't afford to hire some overseas hacker to worm into Amazon and let me put that many stars up.

lol?

5 out of 5 stars flying man   February 7, 2010

My son who is 10 years old told me about this product. I ordered it for him for Christmas and he was estatic about receiving it. He loves this remote control flying man/bird. It's really cool how it flaps it's wing and flies around the house. It's made out of styrofaom so I didn't worry about him hitting anyone with it. I totally recommend this toy to any child. My husband and I love it too. Nephews bday is coming up, i was thinking about purchasing another one.

5 out of 5 stars one of Air Hogs' best!   December 31, 2009

i'm a small/indoor flying enthusiast. i've tried just about every flying toy that Air Hogs has put out, as well as others (from the $30 Piloto to the $300 Carbon Butterfly), not to mention several RC ornithopters (wing-flappers) like the Dragonfly and Vamp.

this is EASILY one of the best flyers from Air Hogs, second maybe to the Cyclone Havoc (the manta-shaped lifting body, not the helicopter) and possibly the best toy-grade ornithopter, too.

mine flew perfectly right out of the box. it's slow and controllable, able to fly in a 10x10 room easily. it does not seem to have as much interference issues with other Air Hogs or Silverlit infra-red (IR) flyers.

this is the first ornithopter i'd recommend for a child younger than 8-10. it doesn't take as much skill or patience as the other wing-flappers, nor does it need as much room. it'd make an ideal first flyer, too.

it's light enough that it'll bounce off anything without breaking, but the mylar wings may tear easily and it didn't come with replacements. like other toys like this, the foam is hard to break, and when it does it can be easily re-glued, or even taped.

it uses the same controller as the Palm-Z/NanoHawk and Cyclone. not the best, but they work.

in short, great toy! i myself don't like the "robot" look much, but your kid may disagree. XD
